AlphaCore Bolsters Research Talent with Experienced AdditionPosted Jun 20, 2017
Risk Factor Analysis Underscores the Importance of Research Capabilities
LA JOLLA, CA - (June 20, 2017) - AlphaCore Capital, a La Jolla, California-based investment advisor, has experienced dramatic growth in the past year, with the launch of a mutual fund and the acquisition of a San Diego-based RIA, demonstrating the increased demand for the integration of alternative strategies for independent advisors and private clients. To accommodate their recent growth, AlphaCore has expanded its research team and hired Research Analyst Johann Lee, who will assist in evaluating the firm’s investment exposures, which includes hedge funds, liquid alternatives and traditional stock and bond exposures.
“Five years ago, democratizing access to alternatives was cutting edge, today democratizing ADVICE is what the market demands. For years the highest quality advice was reserved for large institutions. Now AlphaCore can deliver those same services to the independent advisor. Offering unique solutions along with private client service/research capabilities and talent becomes increasingly important,” says AlphaCore Founder and CEO Dick Pfister. “We are thrilled to welcome Johann to our team, and in doing so, expand our ability to serve our clients and provide the independent research and education they depend upon.”
Mr. Lee understands the unique challenge advisors face when allocating to alternative investments. “Advisors are turning to alternatives to create a well-balanced portfolio. However, the alternative investment landscape is constantly changing, making it difficult and time-consuming to construct a portfolio of reliable alternative strategies,” says Mr. Lee. “I am looking forward to working with AlphaCore’s research team to provide advisors and private clients with investment solutions that fit their needs.”
Prior to joining AlphaCore, Mr. Lee worked at Wilshire Associates, a Los Angeles-based institutional consulting firm with over $1 trillion in assets under advisement , as a research associate responsible for evaluating alternative investment strategies. He began his professional career at Cambridge Associates as an investment associate aiding their research team with a variety of quantitative and qualitative due diligence requirements in both traditional and alternative investments. Mr. Lee is a CFA Level III Candidate.
About AlphaCore Capital
At AlphaCore Capital, we believe traditional allocations to stocks, bonds and real estate serve a purpose, but alternative investment strategies should also be incorporated in order to properly diversify a portfolio. Historically, large allocations to traditional long-only asset classes such as equities and bonds were considered the primary ingredients to form a well-diversified portfolio. In our opinion, today's markets have become more correlated and recent moves in equities and interest rates have become exhausted. AlphaCore believes that adding alternative investments using a thoughtful, calculated approach can help to provide proper long-term diversification.
